Background of the Study
Grassroots political education is an essential component of a vibrant democracy, aiming to empower citizens with the knowledge and skills required to participate effectively in the electoral process. In Ede South Local Government Area of Osun State, initiatives promoting political education at the community level have been implemented to enhance electoral transparency and informed voter participation. Such educational programs focus on civic rights, electoral procedures, and the importance of accountability, thereby equipping citizens to critically evaluate political candidates and policy platforms (Ade, 2023). Recent studies underscore that grassroots political education can significantly reduce the prevalence of electoral malpractices and increase public confidence in the democratic process (Okafor, 2024). Nonetheless, challenges such as limited resources, low literacy levels, and political apathy continue to hamper the effectiveness of these programs (Chukwu, 2025). This study investigates the impact of grassroots political education on electoral transparency in Ede South, analyzing how such initiatives influence voter awareness, participation, and the overall integrity of local elections.
Statement of the Problem
In Ede South, despite efforts to promote grassroots political education, electoral transparency remains a challenge. Limited resources, low public engagement, and persistent misinformation hinder the effectiveness of educational programs. This disconnect has resulted in a lack of informed voter participation and ongoing electoral irregularities. The study seeks to evaluate the impact of grassroots political education on electoral transparency, addressing the barriers to effective civic education and its role in fostering a more accountable electoral process (Ade, 2023; Okafor, 2024).

Significance of the Study
